How to make Cookies in a Jar Snowmen
First, Wash your jars and lids in the dishwasher. Once they are clean and dried, they are ready to be filled.
Mix the following together and add as the first layer to your jar:
- 2 1/4 cups White flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
Mix together in a bowl as shown below. Add to jar.
With your wax paper (parchment paper), cut out two circles the size of the mouth of the jar. Place one of the circles in the jar on top of the flour mixture.
Now, pour in 3/4 cup Brown sugar. Press down on brown sugar to make sure it is tightly packed.
Add 3/4 cup granulated sugar directly on top of the brown sugar.
Insert the second wax paper circle on top of the sugar. Fill the remaining space with chocolate chips. Pack as many in as you can before screwing on the lid.
Type or write up the directions for the recipe. I used Avery business cards (link above). Here are the directions:
Cookies in a Jar Directions
- Add 2 Sticks Softened Butter, 1 tsp Vanilla and 2 Large Eggs to middle layer (brown and white sugar)
- Mix in Flour mixture
- Add Chocolate Chips Last
- Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 8 to 10 minutes
Make your Cookies in a Jar look like Snowmen
Collect your scrap piece of Fabric, string, googly eyes, and orange/black felt or paper. Cut the orange felt or paper into the shape of a carrot nose. With the black felt or paper, cut into 3 buttons.
Glue your items on the jar. Hot glue the jar, then place your items on the jar, not the other way around. If you glue your items first, you are much more likely to burn yourself. Trust me, it happened to me!
Attach the directions to your string. I cut a slit in the directions and put the string through it. Tie this along with your scrap fabric around the jar where the brown sugar is.
There you have it, you have completed your cookies in a jar snowmen! I hope you love making and gifting them!
Have a Merry Christmas and happy making!
