Quiet Books

Book of Mormon Quiet Book

After making my first quiet book, I decided I wanted to make both a Book of Mormon and a Bible quiet Book. I felt like this would be a great way to introduce my children to these Books of Scripture. I just finished the Book of Mormon quiet book a few days ago and in this post I’ll share the activity pages with you! By next year I’m hoping to finish the Bible quiet book. These activity pages are from Book of Mormon stories. They are shown pre-binding.

Edit (2022)- I just released a Book of Mormon quiet book template! Buy the download here: https://sewmuchtocreate.com/product/book-of-mormon-quiet-book-pattern/

Book of Mormon cover page
Cover Page- Book of Mormon

For the cover page, I used Iron-on Gold letters for the title, “Book of Mormon”. I had to buy a few sets because there were not enough “o”‘s in one pack. The exact gold letters I used are no longer available but the ones in the link above are by the same brand. I also used D rings and eyelets (with the eyelet pliers) to create the Gold plates. There is one “leaf” of the page that can move side to side.

Lehi's dream- the Iron rod
Lehi’s Dream- The Iron Rod

The first activity pages are of Lehi’s Dream- the Iron Rod passing the Great and Spacious building and river of water leading to the tree. There is a cord sewn on both ends of the page on both pages. the people are removable, there is a strip of felt sewn on the back of the people. One side of the strip of the felt is sewn to the person, and the other side of the felt strip attaches by velcro. The people can slide along the “Iron Rod” on both sides. The great and spacious building has levels that are not sewn on the top, so the people can go in the great and spacious building if you put them there. Also, the fruit is removable by snaps.

Nephi build a boat
Nephi Builds a Boat

This is a boat puzzle relating to the story of Nephi building the boat to travel to America. The velcro sewn to the felt pages is the soft side and the velcro sewn to the boat parts is the rough side. When sewing on velcro, make sure you sew it on last after creating all other pages of the quiet book. The needle gets very sticky going through the adhesive side of the velcro. You will most likely have to throw out that sewing machine needle. So get as much use out of it as you can before throwing it out!

King Benjamin speaks to families in tents
King Benjamin preaches to families with their tents towards the temple

I’m excited about this activity page. This is of King Benjamin preaching to the people. It says in the scriptures that families gathered together with their tents pointing towards the temple. For the tents I used 4 inch zippers. Instead of putting felt people in them, I am going to put laminated pictures of our own family. Once my son is a year or so older, I’ll collect pictures of our family (pocket size), laminate them, and put them in the tents. This way we are applying the scriptures to ourselves.

Captain Moroni
Captain Moroni waves the title of Liberty

This activity page allows them to “sew” through the eyelets on the Title of Liberty. I used Iron-on Gold letters and eyelets (with pliers) for the title of liberty. For the cord, I sewed the first few inches to the felt page so it couldn’t  be removed from the quiet book. The end of the cord I burned so it wouldn’t fray.

Jesus Visits the Americas
Jesus Visits the Americas

This is the most important story in the entire quiet book, when Jesus visits the people in the Americas after his Resurrection. I had some magnet sheets from a different project and decided to use them for this page. The magnets were hot glued to the felt page with Jesus and also to the back of each felt child.

The Brother of Jared
The Brother of Jared

This page was a fun one to make. The finger of the Lord comes out of the cloud to touch the stones. The stones and the brother of Jared are all removable by snaps and can be placed in the barge to the right. The barge is made of clear fabric on the outside so you can see the items placed in it. This is shown below.

Moroni buries the plates
Moroni burying the plates

This is the last and one of my favorite pages. This is Moroni praying over the plates then burying them. The plates are removable by a snap. The rock on the right page is also removable by a snap and underneath the rock is a 4 inch zipper.

I used 1/2 yard of gold fabric for the binding. Below is the finished product!
